David Hollander is the head of the Vinyasa Department at Yoga Sutra NYC on 42 Street and 5th Avenue. As such, he teaches a full schedule and personally selects and oversees the Vinyasa and related teaching faculty. He conducts the Vinyasa Krama portion of the Yoga Sutra Teacher Training, and works closely with others to help set the long-term direction for the school.

David is also co-Founder of Teacher Training at New York Yoga and teaches a Morning Meditation / Vinyasa flow ongoing program at the York Avenue studio.  

David Hollander was introduced to Yoga as a child through his father's Buddhist practice and again as a teenager. David studied Yoga in the late 1980's at a variety of studios in the New York area and began a meditation practice with Sri Chinmoy and his students as well as experiencing both zen and Tibetan Buddhist practices. In 1992 he began studying an Iyengar-influenced style of practice with Michael Gilbert at the 92nd Street Y.   Currently, he studies Asana, Sanskrit and philosophy with a number of instructors including: V. Sheshadri, Dr. V. Nagaraj, Manju Jois,  Dharma Mittra, and others, both in the west and on his frequent journeys to India.
